LCC - Language, Culture and Communication
Language, Culture and Communication sits at the heart of the Courtyard curriculum. As a school, we pride ourselves on upskilling our students to understand the dynamics of language and importance of communication to better develop their knowledge and cultural capital of life, in order to become better equipped citizens.
English can be accessed via the A/AS, GCSE or Functional Skills routes depending upon the young person’s ability and prior knowledge before joining the Courtyard.
Performing Arts is a new addition to the BTEC suite of qualifications the school offers.
The schemes of work for the remaining subjects within the LCC department have been constructed by the experienced educational team at the Courtyard to ensure that the objectives of the National Curriculum are being addressed within an enriching and meaningful context.

Learning is differentiated to take account of each student's individual needs, so students are taught in groups according to their stage of learning as opposed to their age.
Students are taught in class sizes of no more than 8 pupils, often less, as we recognise that our students learn best in calm, quiet environments where they are able to focus on their learning with reduced sensory overload.
