Houses of Parliament
At he Courtyard we believe that every pupil has a democratic entitlement to visit their UK Parliament and we were welcomed on our visits by the Educational department. Their aim was to provide an accessible and enjoyable experience of Parliament.
Our visit included a tour and workshop. During the workshop, students had the chance to use a range of artefacts, and play interactive quizzes to explore the processes and history found at Parliament. The students were able to manipulate and create different objects related to the suffragettes, as well as to dress like Kings/Queens and take a photo sitting on one of the benches of the House of Lords wearing the Crown. The workshop was designed to support curriculum study and was tailored to the needs of our students.
The tour included The House of Commons and House of Lords debating chambers.
We also had access to the public galleries but we were not able to watch MPs and Peers at work as it was their summer break.
