SMMA

Thanks to the Christian generosity of St Mary Magdalene Academy, a high-attaining mainstream secondary provision, Courtyard students have the opportunities to experience academic and social mainstream environments in a supportive and inclusive setting.

Courtyard students who are academically and socially able to, have the opportunity to study GCSE and A-Level subjects alongside their mainstream peers. Our Courtyard students are accompanied on a 1:1 ratio by specialist staff from the Courtyard. Staff at SMMA value Courtyard students in their lessons and include them in their verbal discussions, practical learning and formative and summative assessments.

Courtyard students also access the lunch facilities at SMMA. This encourages our students to apply previously learnt social skills to different environments, communicating effectively with others. This is a life skill which may come easily to some, but is a real challenge for some of our students.
