Congratulations to Rev. Dr Rose Hudson-Wilkin
The Courtyard community would like to congratulate Rev. Dr Rose Hudson-Wilkin on her appointment as Bishop of Dover. Her new position, which will commence in November, is the first appointment of a black female bishop by the Church of England.
The Archbishop of Canterbury said he was "absolutely delighted" by her appointment.
The Most Rev Justin Welby said she was "one of the most influential and effective ministers... through her long service as Chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons".
Dr Hudson-Wilkin, who is also a chaplain to the Queen, led prayers at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in May 2018.
In May 2019, Rev. Rose carried out the official opening of the Courtyard school, delivering an extremely moving speech about the pupils of the Courtyard being the salt of our local community. We were honoured to host her in May and want to wish her every success for her new appointment.
