Survival Skills Day – Wednesday 16 October
Dear Parent/Carer,
As discussed on the phone with you, your child has been offered the opportunity to take part in a Survival Skills Day in Shoreham, Kent on Wednesday 16 October.
The session
The full day experience is designed around survival skills.
It involves:
fire lighting
gathering and chopping wood
trying out lashing and knots
building shelters
team building exercises
prepare food and cook it on an open fire.
Then the whole group will tuck into an early camp fire supper before heading back to London on the train.

9:00am – 7:30/8:00pm
Clothing
Pupils will need:
long trousers/tracksuit bottoms
long sleeve top
waterproof and warm coat
wellies or strong shoes. We will be outside most of the day, even if it’s raining!
Transport
We will be taking the Overground from Highbury and Islington to Peckham Rye and then the train to Shoreham.
Lunch/Dinner
Pupils will need to bring a packed lunch and a bottle of water. Dinner will be vegetarian chilli (not spicy) which everyone will be involved with preparing and cooking over the campfire. We will then leave on the 6.02 train from Shoreham.
Please confirm you give permission for your child to take part and also to confirm you can provide a packed lunch.
