Covid Response

The Courtyard is a unique, supportive community made up of exceptional pupils, parents, staff and governors. We are very proud of how the whole school community has come together during this difficult and unprecedented time.

This term has started off amidst very tricky and concerning circumstances regarding Covid-19, the government's decision to go to a full lockdown to look after our own health and the health of others. Many of our parents have chosen retain their children at home and we support this parental right.

The Courtyard staff have worked tirelessly to ensure pupils' learning got off to an immediate start. Pupils, parents and staff are familiar with the remote learning situation from last year, and have taken the time to ensure our pupils were better prepared in case this situation arose again. We did this by carrying out practice Google Classroom and Google Meet sessions last term.

We know that there is no substitute for being in the classroom but we have found that our pupils have shown incredible resilience and ability to adapt. This way of learning could continue for some time and so it is paramount that we create the best possible methods for teaching and learning remotely.

There is a group of pupils being educated onsite with a skeleton staff on rota. Within the overarching context of government guidance, we are taking action to minimise, as far as possible, the risk of spreading any infection by reducing contact and maintaining distance between pupils wherever possible. This means that pupils are contained within their groups/bubbles and have contact with a minimum number of staff. We will be carrying out regular lateral flow tests on both staff and pupils to ensure everyone is kept as safe as possible.

As ever, we will ensure that all pupils are safe, well and happy as they go about school life. Though we will face challenges as we adapt to the new protocols in place, our values of kindness and respect for others remain at the heart of our community.

This is an unprecedented situation for us all. We will continue to do everything we can to ensure our pupils continue to progress both academically and socially and thank all stakeholders for their unlimited support. It continues to reflect The Courtyard’s vision to offer an outstanding educational and social provision that will equip our pupils with the skills and experiences needed to discover and live out their potential.
